Should I Get a Pre-Purchase Inspection?

Motorhome and Caravan Pre-Purchase Inspections

Here is an example of the type of enquiry we sometimes get at Habcheck.

“Hi my family and I have just purchased our first caravan and unfortunately 3 weeks down the line found out the whole underneath is damp and rotting. So now in a trading standards dispute. I have found another one that I really like. A Hoby prestige Luxe 640 in Doncaster. Before purchasing another one I think we need to get it checked over by someone who knows what they are looking at. Is this something we can do? Many thanks.”

Better to be Safe Than Sorry

Well, I don’t think I need to add anything more to this unfortunate customer’s explanation of what happened. However, it really does demonstrate that it is better to be safe than sorry when buying a motorhome or caravan – even when buying from a dealer. In this instance the issue was “only” damp. But it is easy to see how motorhomes and caravans can be sold with other more serious safety issues, putting your loved ones at risk.

An Easy Problem to Overcome

It really is easy to make sure you don’t end up in a similar situation. Our engineers are mobile. They go to where the motorhome or caravan you are buying is being sold from – and yes, we do go to dealers’ showrooms. They carry out a comprehensive pre-purchase inspection and complete an impartial report. We send you the results and answer any questions you have about the inspection and report. You get immediate insight regarding the condition, value and safety of the motorhome or caravan you are proposing to buy. Peace of mind is just a phone call away.
